Suzuki Vitara SUV debuts in Paris – Maruti could launch in India to rival Hyundai Creta

Suzuki Vitara facelift is set for launch in Europe later this year. The updated model has also been spied on test in India on many occasions but does Maruti Suzuki plan to launch it here, has still not been confirmed. The car has now been showcased at the 2018 Paris Motor Show.

The updated Suzuki Vitara facelift sports new exterior and interior updates and offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. It is seen with a new front grille with chrome surrounds, new fog lamp enclosures, tail lamp enclosures in a new color scheme and a new reversing light relocated to the center of the rear bumper. Larger LED DRLs, new alloy wheels, blacked out B Pillar and tinted rear windshield will also be a part of its new features.

Interiors of 2019 Suzuki Vitara will also be updated with more premium features. Soft touch material will be seen on its upper instrument panel while instrument cluster will get a new color scheme. Top variants will get safety features such as dual sensor brake support, lane departure warning system, traffic signal recognition, blind spot monitor and rear cross traffic alert.

In international markets, Suzuki Vitara will be powered by a 1.6 liter, 4 cylinder petrol engine offering 118 bhp power and 156 Nm torque and a 1.4 liter turbocharged engine capable of 138 bhp and 220 Nm torque. It will also get a 1.6 liter diesel engine offering 118 bhp power and 320 Nm torque. Transmission options are 5 speed or 6 speed manual transmission along with a 6 speed automatic gearbox. AWD will be offered as an option.

Judging by the growing demand in this segment, Maruti Suzuki India Limited may plan to bring the new Vitara to India. The car has already been spied on test in India, indicating that launch in India could happen sooner than expected.

The family SUV segment is seeing huge demand. Hyundai Creta currently is the best seller. Soon, Tata will launched Harrier to rival the Creta. Nissan too will join with the launch of Kicks. With Maruti having plans to launch 10 new cars in India by 2020, it is possible that the new Vitara is in that list.
