Tata 45X hatchback spied on test – First time after Auto Expo 2018

Tata Motors, the country’s largest vehicle makers are currently working on a new premium hatchback.

Designed by Tata Motors European Technical Centre in Coventry, along with design inputs from engineers at Jaguar Land Rover, the new Tata premium hatchback has been on test since many months now. At the Auto Expo 2018, we got a first glimpse at its design, thank to the 45X concept.

Now, the Tata premium hatchback which will rival the likes of Maruti Baleno and Hyundai i20, has once again been spied on test. Featuring a longer and wider body, the new Tata hatchback is expected to be the most spacious car in the segment, with comfortable seating for 5 passengers.

It will be positioned on a new XO platform called AMP – Advanced Modular Platform. This is a new platform being introduced for the first time by Tata Motors. It has been developed with inputs from Jaguar Land Rover team, helping the body be as rigid as possible, at the same time being strong. Just like the OMEGA (Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced) platform, which is for the H5X and H7X SUV’s the XO platform is also a new gen platform from Tata Motors.

Talking about features, on the outside the new Tata hatchback will feature LED DRL with projector headlamps. The overall structure will be sleep and sporty, much like the concept that was on display at the 2018 Auto Expo.

To be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options and loaded with features, the new Tata hatchback could be launched sometime next year. Engine options on offer could be the same which we have seen on board the Nexon – 1.5 liter petrol and 1.5 liter diesel. These new engines are powerful and deliver 110 ps. Transmission options will be both manual 5MT as well as AMT.

To be produced from Tata’s plant in Sanand, the new hatchback will rival Maruti Baleno, Honda Jazz and Hyundai i20 in the country.
