Tata Ace Mega XL which was first showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo is gearing up for an imminent launch as suggested by the recent leak of the complete product brochure. As the name suggests, Ace Mega XL is a slightly larger version of Ace Mega which was launched in 2015.
In terms of numbers, Ace Mega XL is 240 mm longer (wheelbase longer by 150 mm) than Ace Mega which measures 3,835 mm in length and 2,100 mm in wheelbase. The cargo bay dimensions stand at 2,520 mm x 1,430 mm x 300 mm as against the smaller variant’s 2,140 mm x 1,430 mm x 300 mm. The payload capacity is rated at 1 tonne.
Tata Ace Mega XL is powered by the same 800 cc twin-cylinder DICOR diesel engine which also does duty in Ace Mega. The motor is tuned to dish out 40 hp at 3,750 rpm and 100 Nm of torque at 1,700 – 2,000 rpm, and comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The load carrier employs disc brakes upfront and regular drum units at the rear. Other notable features include power steering, mobile charger, lockable glove box, decals on front doors and hubcaps. The vehicle will be offered with a warranty of 2 years/72,000 km.
Tata Ace Mega is priced at INR 4.35 lakhs (ex-showroom). Expect Mega XL to be priced slightly higher. It will be pitted against Mahindra Supro Maxitruck.
