Tata Ace Zip was introduced in Indian market in May, 2011. Since then, the model has been under various tests for shaping it to host future technologies, given its immense success in the nation. The micro hauler recently celebrated 100,000th roll-out from its manufacturing plant in Dharwad. Some of the upgrades Tata Ace Zip are being subjected to are higher ground clearance and torque by hub reduction apart from new fuel alternatives like CNG and pure electricity.
The hub reduction technic is commonly applied in Heavy Commercial Vehicles (HCV), and it is the first time an SCV is receiving the treatment, according to Sandeep Kumar, Head of Sales & Marketing (SCV), Tata Motors. Among upcoming new Tata Ace Zip variants is a new longer body model for carrying larger loads.
Ace Zip offers 600 kg payload capacity and is priced around Rs. 1.5 lakh higher than three-wheeled goods carrying vehicles for the substantially higher performance rating. It is the best selling Tata Ace model, with around 2,500 units exiting showrooms every month. Ace Zip has 35 percent of customer base in rural India. New variants will help increase penetration and reach new levels of segment leadership.
