Tata Altroz, the 3rd CNG model in the company lineup, gets twin cylinder CNG technology of 30 liters each so as to free up more luggage space
Altroz CNG is the 3rd CNG model from Tata Motors after the Tiago and Tigor that came in with iCNG technology. It may be recalled that the Altroz CNG was showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo earlier this year. The company has opened bookings for the Altroz CNG at Rs 21,000. No prices have been announced as on date while deliveries are scheduled to commence from May 2023.
Tata Altroz CNG gets 4 colour options of Opera Blue, Downtown Red, Arcade Grey and Avenue White. In terms of its exterior design, it is strikingly similar to its standard version with dimensions at 3,990 mm length, 1,755mm width and 1,523mm height. Wheelbase is at 2,501 mm while it rides on 16 inch dual tone alloy wheels.
Tata Altroz CNG Brochure Leaks – Variants wise features
As per the leaked brochure, new Altroz CNG will be offered in a choice of 6 variants – XE, XM+, XM+ (S), XZ, XZ+ (S) and XZ+ O (S). Voice assist as well as Sunroof will be offered in the three variants of XM+ (S), XZ+ (S) and XZ+ O (S).
Altroz CNG XE base variant does not get much features, apart from the standard safety features. There is only a 4 inch digital instrument cluster on offer. Altroz CNG XM+ variant gets 7 inch touchscreen infotainment with 4 speakers. It also gets steering mounted controls, What3Words navigation, remote keyless entry, USB sockets in the front and rear, electric foldable ORVMs, central locking, voice assist, Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity.
Top of the line Altroz XZ+ O (S) is loaded with features like auto headlamps, height adjustable front seat belts, TPMS, air purifier, rear AC vents, wireless charger, 8 speaker music system, connected car tech with smartphone app, rear fog lamp, rearview camera, leather seats, etc.
Twin 30 liter CNG Tanks
As compared to the single 60 liter fuel tanks seen on the Tata Tiago and Tigor CNG, Tata Motors has fitted the Altroz CNG with a dual cylinder set up of two 30 liter tanks positioned under the boot floor. This frees up space in the boot. The Altroz boot space is currently rated at 345 liters so the CNG variant could get a boot space of around 200 liters.
Altroz CNG draws power via a 1.2 liter, 3 cylinder engine mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox. In petrol guise, this engine offers 86 hp power and 113 Nm torque and in CNG format makes 77 hp power at 6,000 rpm and 97 Nm torque at 3,500 rpm. Fuel efficiency is slated at around 27 km/kg.
Tata Altroz CNG prices will be announced soon. It will come at a premium of around Rs 90,000-1 lakh over its petrol powered counterparts. Upon launch, it will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Baleno CNG (Rs 8.35 lakh to Rs 9.28 lakh), Toyota Glanza CNG (Rs 8.43 lakh to Rs 9.46 lakh) and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios CNG (Rs 7.58 lakh – Rs 8.13 lakh).
