Tata Motors had quite an impressive lineup at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Of the five cars showcased, it is the Altroz which will make its way to company showrooms first. Ahead of that, TVC shooting of the all new Tata Altroz is currently happening. It is during the TVC shoot, that Team BHP member karan561 managed to spot the Altroz in action. This is also the first time Tata Altroz has been spied undisguised on a public road.

Tata Altroz premium hatchback is the production model of the 45X Concept. It is the second car from Tata Motors to be based on the Impact 2.0 Design Philosophy, after the Harrier. It is the the first car to be based on the ALFA platform.

In terms of design, the Altroz is largely similar to the 45X Concept which made its presence felt at the 2018 Auto Expo. It is seen with a sleek front grille, swept back headlamps, front fog lamps with cornering assistance and rear defogger. The LED DRLs will be positioned below the headlamps on the bumper with chrome accents.

The Tata Altroz measures 3,988mm in length, 1,754mm in width and 1,505mm in height while it sits on a 2,501 mm long wheelbase and gets 17” alloy wheels fitted 205/50 tyres as has been noted on its top spec variant.

Tata Motors has stated that the Altroz will command a 5 Star rating at NCAP thanks to a strong body structure and the new the ALFA platform, which offers elevated level of flexibility, adaptability and safety. It will also comply with new safety regulations with dual front airbags, rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat mounts, park assist camera, day and night IRVMs and front fog lamps with cornering ability while ABS and EBD will be offered as standard.

Tata Motors has also detailed engine specs to make their way to the new Altroz. The 1.2 liter, 3 cylinder petrol engine will offer 102 hp power at 5,500 rpm and 140 Nm torque at 1,700-4,000 rpm mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox. There is no mention of a diesel engine as on date as this engine will have to comply with BS VI emission norms and could result in higher costs.
