Tata Motors is to launch their new batchback, Bolt in India on January 22, 2015. Display and demo cars are being wheeled into dealer showrooms, as first units were recently spotted at a company showroom in South India. In the premium hatchback category, Tata Bolt will take on Honda Amaze, Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Hyundai Xcent in the market. It will be offered in 10 variants with two engine options.
Designed by Tata’s three design studios – Pune, India, Turin, Italy and Coventry, UK, the Bolt hatchback shares several design cues with the Zest. Both the Bolt and Zest also share the same platform. Tata Bolt is to be offered in six variants and with two engine options. Tata Bolt will be powered by a 1.2 liter turbocharged Multipoint Fuel Injection (MPFi) engine Revotron 1.2T. This engine offers 90 PS peak power and 140 Nm peak torque mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. The petrol variant gets three driving modes – Eco, Sport and City.

Features on board the new Tata Bolt will include projector headlights, fog lights, rear wiper and washer and adjustable wing mirrors. Internal features will include a touchscreen infotainment system designed by Harmann Kardon, multifunction steering wheel, voice recognition, central locking, navigation support and automatic climate controls. Tata Bolt top end variants will receive safety features such as corner stability control, ABS, EBD and dual airbags. Tata Bolt is the second car from the automaker to come under the company’s HORIZONEXT product strategy.
