Tata Motors is expected to launch Zest sedan in August 2014 while launch of the Bolt hatchback is slated for a month later in September, both ahead of the Diwali festive season. Showcased earlier at the Auto Expo 2014, the new Tata Bolt will be presented with petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol engine will be in the form of a 1.2 liter Revotron turbo engine offering 85 PS at 5000 rpm and 140 Nm torque at 1750-3500 rpm. Fiat sourced 1.3 liter Mulitijet diesel generating 90 PS engine will also be offered. Exterior of the new Bolt will be seen with a floating roof spoiler, new fog lamp bezels, front and rear LEDs and a new grille.

The new Bolt owes its various design inputs received from three Tata Motors design studios based in Coventry (UK), Turin (Italy) and Pune (India). In the mean time, Tata Motors is pinning their hopes on success of both Zest and Bolt and hope that these two models will help to revive its flagging fortunes in the passenger car markets. Cyrus Mistry is personally reviewing these new cars which are reminiscent of the way Ratan Tata, the previous Chairman was actively involved with the design, production and launch of the Nano.
