Tata H5X spied on Pune-Mumbai Expressway – Launch timeline revealed
Tata H5X concept SUV was among one of the notable concepts at the 2018 Auto Expo. It is set to launch in India early 2019 and prices are expected to start from INR 12 lakhs.
New Tata H5X SUV will be built on Tata Motor’s new OMEGA – Optimal Modular Efficient Global Architecture, which is a derivative of the Land Rover Sport’s L550 platform. The car was on test recently, where it was spied by Rushlane.
Though this is an early prototype, it is difficult to comment on the design. But Tata has confirmed that as much as 80-85% of the design will be carry forwarded from the concept which was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo.
New Tata H5X will be seen with extensive use of aluminum in its design makeup and features include sleep LED headlamps, LED tail lamps and large fog lamps. It gets a signature front grille, flared wheel arches and distinctive shoulder line. It sits on large 19” alloy wheels and gets a floating roofline while front skid plate is painted grey. The floating roofline slopes sharply towards the rear and C Pillars are blackened. There are also side steps to allow for easy access to the interiors of the SUV.
Tata H5X will be a class leader with outstanding interior design, space, driver and passenger comfort features. It will be seen with a floating touchscreen display, automatic climate controls and electrically operated mirrors. Seating will be at a premium with comfortable seating and sufficient head, leg and shoulder room. The front seats sport screens at the back for viewing by passengers at the rear.
The Tata H5X is slated to receive the same engine as seen on the Jeep Compass. This 2 liter turbocharged diesel engine will offer 140 bhp peak power and 320 Nm peak torque mated to a 6 speed manual or a 9 speed ZF sourced automatic transmission. A four wheel drive option will be on offer with a front wheel drive layout will be standard.
The H5X will be produced from the same facility from where the Compass is produced, Fiat plant near Pune, which is jointly owned by Tata Motors.
