Tata H5X SUV with production rear spied – Looks like Tata Nexon’s rear?
The new Tata H5X will be the first of many Tata vehicles to boast of the Impact Design 2.0 language.
Tata H5X was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo, where it received a thunderous response from media as well as enthusiasts. With development of the SUV in full swing, the new 4×4 from Tata has been spied again, this time wearing production ready rear design.
The image, though a little blurred, looks like that the H5X will carry some design elements from the compact SUV Nexon. The image of Tata H5X rear does look like rear of the Nexon in more than one way.
New Tata H5X is based on Tata’s new OMEGA (Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced) architecture, which is a derivative of the Land Rover Discovery Sport’s L550 platform (the test mule was on test along with a Land Rover Discovery Sport).
Tata H5X will be as capable an off-roader with similar to Land Rover. However, to keep prices more affordable, the expensive aluminum parts seen on the Discovery Sport will be replaced by steel ones. Speaking about inside, it will be most spacious in the segment and will get large touchscreen infotainment system with Harman Kardon music system.
Even while testing under camouflage, certain exterior features have come to the fore. These include new head and tail lamp designs, deep recess near rear windshield, a rear wiper, black wheel arch cladding and production spec door handles. The H5X sits on 5 spoke 19” alloy wheels finished in black.
Tata H5X will get its power from a Fiat sourced 2.0 liter Multijet II engine which also powers the Jeep Compass in India. This 2 liter engine will generate 140 PS on board the H5X. Both manual and automatic transmissions will be on offer. 4×4 drive system will also be on offer. In terms of pricing, the Tata H5X will be priced between INR 13—16 lakhs – thereby rivaling the likes of Hyundai Creta, Jeep Compass, Mahindra XUV500, etc.
