Tata Harrier 7 seat spied with new alloys – May get sunroof, 4×4, Auto at launch

The Tata H7X will be powered by a 170 hp, 2.0 liter MultiJet turbo diesel engine that also powers the Jeep Compass.

Based on the Harrier 5 seater, the new 7 seater model, codenamed H7X, is being actively tested ahead of official launch in the country. The H7X, as it is called as on date, will be the company’s second product to be based on the Land Rover Discovery Sport L550 platform. It will be positioned above the H5X, which is now christened the Tata Harrier and boast of Tata’s new IMPACT Design 2.0 philosophy.

Once launched, Tata H7X will be the company’s flagship model in India. It will rival the likes of Honda CR-V, Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour upon launch in the country. Latest spy shots reveal some interesting exterior details.

Tata Harrier H7X looks very similar to the teaser which was shared last year ahead of the Auto Expo. It seems to be sitting lower than the Harrier, wearing wider tyres and new alloys, probably carried from the Land Rover. It has a pronounced bonnet creases, and may feature an electric sunroof.

Tata H7X exterior features will also include design cues borrowed from the Harrier, among which will be a prominent 3-D Humanity Line, tri arrow patterned fog lamps, LED daytime running lights. Features to the rear will include a sporty bumper design, roof mounted spoiler and wrap around smoked tail lamps.

The spacious 7 seater cabin will also share features and styling with the 5 seater Harrier, though it will get more room – thanks to the third row not getting sloping roofline. To accommodate third row seating, overhangs are longer by 62mm, wheelbase is same as Harrier 5 seater.

The seats and dashboard will be in leather. In terms of infotainment and safety, the H7X will get a large touchscreen infotainment system from Harrier; sporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with MirrorLink. It will comply with new safety regulations to be made mandatory in India among which will be airbags, ABS and EBD along with Brake Assist. It will also get rear parking camera and sensors, ESP and traction control along with Land Rover’s terrain management system.

The 7 seater SUV from Tata Motors will get its power via a 2.0 liter MultiJet turbo diesel engine that also powers the Jeep Compass. This engine will offer 170 bhp peak power and 350 Nm peak torque mated to a 6 speed manual or a 6 speed automatic unit. A 4×4 variant is also expected to be on offer. No price indications have been revealed as on date but estimates put the Harrier 7 seater in the Rs 16-22 lakh price range.
