Tata Harrier has been launched in India. It enters a highly competitive segment where it will have to contend with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur, Nissan Kicks, Jeep Compass and Mahindra XUV500.
It is presented in four variants- XE, XM, XT and XZ and priced aggressively from Rs.12.69 lakhs for the base variant going up to Rs.16.25 for its top end model, undercutting most of its competition.
Tata Harrier is presented in color options of Calisto Copper, Thermisto Gold, Orcus White, Telesto Grey and Ariel Silver. It receives a design language as part of the Tata Impact 2.0 theme. It is based on the new Land Rover D8 architecture derived platform called OMEGA ARC offering better driving dynamics and extra torsional rigidity.
To comply with new safety regulations in India, the Tata Harrier receives 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, ESP, traction control, hill hold assist and hill descent control and hydraulic brake assist. Speaking about the standard features on offer with the Harrier top variant – Its exterior design elements include a distinctive front grille, low positioned headlamps with high positioned LED DRLs and a sloping roofline. It also receives a floating D Pillar while design elements to the rear include a moulded tailgate and pointed LED tail lamps. The Harrier gets flared wheel arches and 5 spoke alloy wheels.
Interiors are also built to impress buyers with wooden paneled dashboard while the top sped model gets a free standing 8.8” touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and inbuilt navigation. Seating is in leather as are door panels while comforts include fully automatic temperature controls with HVAC, rear air conditioning vents and adjustable driver seat.
The engine powering Harrier is a 2.0 liter Kryotec diesel engine offering 140 PS power and 350 Nm torque mated to a 6 speed transmission.
