With exclusive features, the new top variants of turbo-petrol Harrier and Safari can get the attention of tech enthusiasts
Tata had introduced its new Hyperion 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with the all-new Sierra. This engine is now available with the Harrier and Safari as well, with boosted power and torque to handle the larger-sized SUVs. To nudge buyers towards the turbo-petrol variants, Tata has also launched new Accomplished Ultra variants of Harrier and Safari with an additional set of premium features. Tata Harrier and Safari Turbo Petrol – New Top-spec Ultra trim
Broad trim levels for Harrier turbo-petrol include Smart, Pure X, Adventure X, Adventure X+, Fearless X, Fearless X+ and Fearless Ultra. Similarly, Safari turbo-petrol trims include Smart, Pure X, Adventure X+, Accomplished X, Accomplished X+ and Accomplished Ultra.
Harrier’s new top-spec Fearless Ultra variant gets a comprehensive range of exclusive features. It includes a 14.5-inch cinematic infotainment screen by Harman powered by Samsung Neo QLED, Dolby Atmos and a 65W Type-C USB fast charger. Also present are digital IRVM with built-in dual dash cam and DVR, built-in navigation with Mappls Auto, Alexa Home2Car and Car2Home connectivity, ORVMs with memory and auto reverse dip and camera washer.
With the Arcade App suite, users can access popular apps such as Amazon Prime Video, JioHotstar, etc. The Harrier turbo-petrol Fearless Ultra variant has dual-tone Oyster White & Titan Brown interior theme. Sliding armrests makes the journeys more comfortable. Safety is enhanced with 22 ADAS Level 2+ features. Colour options include Nitro Crimson and Red #DARK. The latter has a distinctive Carnelian Red Interior theme, Carnelian Red leatherette seats, 19-inch alloy wheels and Red #DARK badging.
Safari turbo-petrol Accomplished Ultra variant gets a similar set of features. However, it has a different interior theme – Oyster White & Gold. Safari Accomplished Ultra is available in Frost White colour option. Safari Accomplished Ultra Red #DARK variant gets exclusive Blackstone R19 alloy wheels with red callipers. Other features are the same as the Harrier Fearless Ultra Red #DARK.
Tata Harrier and Safari Turbo Petrol – Specs
Onboard the all-new Sierra, the 1.5-litre Hyperion turbo-petrol engine is tuned to deliver 160 PS and 255 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. In comparison, the Harrier and Safari have this turbo-petrol engine in a higher state of tune, delivering 170 PS and 280 Nm. Transmission choices include 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic (Pure X variant onwards).
Power output of 170 PS is the same as that of the 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine. But the torque output of 280 Nm is less than the 350 Nm of the turbo diesel. Despite this, the turbo-petrol variants of Harrier and Safari do not feel underpowered. This was revealed in a recent test drive of the Harrier turbo-petrol variant.
Pricing
Tata is yet to reveal the prices for the petrol-powered Harrier and Safari. The petrol variants are expected to be more accessible in comparison to the diesel-powered variants of Harrier and Safari. With both turbo-petrol and turbo-diesel engine options, Harrier and Safari are now better equipped to take on rivals.
