Tata Harrier engine, specs, weight – Bigger than XUV500, Creta, Compass

In the previous posts we spoke about Harrier variants and Harrier prices. In this post we will talk about engine specs and dimensions. Tata Harrier gets power from a Kryotec, 2.0L turbocharged, inline 4 Cylinder diesel engine (1956 cc). It returns max power of 103 kW (140 PS) @ 3750 RPM, and max torque of 350 Nm @ 1750-2500 RPM. Multi drive modes on offer are Eco, City, and Sport. ESP Terrain response modes are normal, wet, and rough.

Alloy wheels are matched with 235/65 R17 Radial Tubeless tyre. The spare tyre provision is of 235/70 R16. Barking is via disc brakes in the front, and drum at the rear. For safety – ESP and ABS with EBD, immobilizer, child lock, isofix, clutch lock, lock out prevention, speed sending auto door lock, and perimetric alarm system are on offer. Safety features also include driver and front passenger airbags, seat side airbags, curtain airbags (total 6 airbags). It also gets driver and co-driver seat belt reminder, and remote central locking.

Driver seat belt comes with three point inertia reel type with pre-tensioner and load limiter, while the co-driver seat misses the pre-tensioner. Rear side seatbelts are three point seat belt ELR, and a lap belt for the rear middle seat. A hydraulic power assisted – rack and pinion steering.

Tata Harrier is the longest and the widest SUV in the segment. It is even bigger than the 7 seater XUV500, and Honda CRV. Take a detailed look of Harrier dimensions and weight vs its rivals Hyundai Creta, Jeeo Compass, Mahindra XUV500, Honda CRV, Volkswagen Tiguan, and Hyundai Tucson.

Length is at: 4598 mm, width at 1894 mm (Without Mirrors). Height 1706 mm (unladen), kerb weight of 1675 kgs, wheelbase at 2741 mm, and unladen ground clearance at 205 mm. Fuel tank capacity measures in at 50 litres.

Suspension is McPherson Strut with coilspring in the front, and semi independent coilspring at the rear. Other features include front fog lamps, LED DRLs with turn indicators, LED turn indicators on outer mirrors, puddle lamps, rear defogger, auto Xenon HID projector head lamps with follow me home capability, and 3D LED Taillamps.

On the inside of Tata Harrier SUV, seat layout includes an 8 way adjustable driver seat, and 4 way adjustable co-driver seat, with a 60:40 foldable rear seat set up. Interior theatrics include theater dimming. The 425L boot space extends to 810 liters with folded rear seats.

Cubby holes and utility spaces galore with front seat back pockets, console cup holder, doorpad bottle holder in door pads, umbrella holder in front door pads, rear armrest with cup holder, mobile stowage in door pads, and centre console for rear passenger, glovebox with removable tray, sunglass holder, carry bag hook in boot, coat hooks, parcel shelf, and cooled storage box.

The Floating Island 8.8” high res touchscreen infotainment system is matched with 9 JBL speakers (4 speakers + 4 tweeters and subwoofer) with AMP. The system is AUX, USB, and bluetooth compatible. Steering mounted controls, voice commands and Android Auto are in place, with Apple Carplay to be included soon. The shark fin type roof antenna is easy to spot.

There’s a 12V power outlet, power windows, tilt and telescopic adjustable steering, and adjustable head restraint on offer. Other conveniences in Tata Harrier include push start, cruise control, elec. adj. and foldable outer mirrors, front and rear 2.4 AMP fast charging, rear AC vents, electric tailgate release, electric fuel lid unlock, and rain sensing wipers.
