Tata Harrier, launched in India earlier this year setting a new benchmark for SUVs in the country. It came in positioned on the OMEGA Arc platform which was derived from the Land Rover’s D8 architecture. It was well accepted by buyers in the country who regaled its design, space, features and driving dynamics.
However, sales which had once hovered around the 2,500 mark in March 2019 have been on a steady decline over the past few months ever since the arrival of the MG Hector and Kia Seltos. Sales in August 2019 which stood at just 635 units, pushed the Harrier down to 17th position on the sales charts.
These August sales at 635 units can be seen as significantly lower as compared to competitor MG Hector and Kia Seltos sales which stood at 2,018 units and 6,200 units respectively in the same month. Sales of the Harrier in August were also 14.19 percent lower than sales in July 2019 when 740 units were sold during the month.
To boost sales, Tata Motors announced exciting discount offers earlier this month. As per this, for Sep 2019, Hexa benefits were up to Rs 1.5 lakh, Nexon at Rs 85,000, Tiago at Rs 70,000, Tigor at Rs 1.15 lakh and Harrier at Rs 50,000. This is the first time Harrier is available at a discount offer.
But it seems that the above dealer discount offers have not had expected effect, especially on the sales of Hexa and Harrier. So in addition to above discount offers, Tata Motors has now launched cashback offers of Rs 30,000 for Harrier and Hexa. These are valid till 30th Sep 2019. Hat tip to Motor Arena for sharing the update.
This means, the total benefit on offer with Harrier is now Rs 80,000 and that on the Hexa is Rs 1.8 lakh. It is to be noted that the cashback offer is only valid for those who book the car online. Maximum cashback offer on the booking amount per car is Rs 30,000.
Apart from offering discount offers, Tata Motors has also launched new features / updates with Harrier. These include sunroof accessory, PRO package, Dark Edition with exclusive black colour and Pentacare 5 year extended warranty. Will the discount offers and the launch of these new updates help revive Harrier sales?
