The Tata Hexa, Kite 5 and Nexon which were showcased at the Auto Expo are slated to be launched one after the other in regular intervals. According to a recent report in ET, designs of these three cars are ready and waiting for approval from the company’s chairman Cyrus Mistry and the new CEO Guenter Butschek.
The Hexa would be the first model to reach the showrooms. The Aria replacement is expected to be go on sale by July this year. With a bold exterior design, revamped interior and more powerful engine, the repositioned flagship would be aiming to dethrone the Mahindra XUV500.
The Kite 5 sedan which is essentially a sedan version of the Tiago sports an interesting exterior design while retaining the hatchback’s interior design. The sedan will use the same 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol and 1.05-litre three-cylinder diesel engine that debuted in the Tiago. Launch is slated to take place in the October-November period.
The Nexon compact crossover which is aimed to take on the Maruti Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport is not expected to be here before April-May 2017. The sub-4 SUV is most likely to use a brand-new homegrown diesel engine (displacing around 1.5-litre) and hence the stretched dead-line.
In addition to the newly launched Tiago hatchback, the upcoming three products are crucial for Tata Motors recovery.
