Tata Hexa is all set to be discontinued in the coming weeks. It will get the BS6 update, but by the end of this year.
With BS6 regulations scheduled to come into effect from April 1, 2020, car dealers across the country are frantically trying to deplete their BS4 stock before the deadline. So, even the brisk selling cars which have not witnessed discounts before can be bought at a significantly reduced price.
The savings can be massive on vehicles that are not exactly chart busters. The Tata Hexa premium 7-seater is one such vehicle. Derived from the Aria premium MPV which didn’t really take off, the Hexa has a reasonably good start in 2017 but soon got relegated to the sidelines. In fact, some dealers are stuck with Hexa units that are manufactured back in 2018.
Now, Tata Motors dealer in Lucknow, Puneet Automotbiles is offering a hefty stock clearance offer of up to Rs 6 lakh on the Hexa SUV (clearance sale of 2018 MY). It is to be noted that the Hexa received a minor update in early 2019 which saw the addition of a improved infotainment system with larger touchscreen, and dual-tone exterior color schemes.
Even though the stock is pre-facelift, a discount of INR 6 lakh on the top-end XT 4×2 variant puts its ex-showroom price at INR 11.9 lakh which is a bargain considering the amount of equipment and package that comes with it. The XM carries a discount of INR 5.5 lakh, resulting in an effective ex-showroom price of INR 9.79 lakh. That is really a steal if you are in the market for a comfortable and spacious family car.
The Tata Hexa is powered by the 2.2-liter VARICOR diesel engine which is mated either to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. The base variants are offered in 150 hp/320 Nm state of tune while the higher variants get the 156 hp/400 Nm version.
While the Tata Gravitas, the 7-seat version of the Harrier, is destined to succeed the Hexa, the automaker is not inclined to retire the latter yet. At the Auto Expo earlier this month, the Hexa Safari Edition concept with mild exterior enhancements was showcased with an announcement that the BS6 version will be ready in sometime. However, Tata stopped short of revealing the specifications of Hexa’s BS6 powertrain. Tata will discontinue the Hexa for a few months, as the BS6 update will only be launched by the end of this year.
