Tata Kite compact sedan rendered, looks a lot like Zest


2016 Tata Kite compact sedan is set to be the most affordable sedan in the Indian automaker’s portfolio, due for launch this year. The company started to test the product continually long ago, recent sighting of test mule was made at Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore.

The Indigo eCS compact sedan replacement, Tata Kite sedan, is expected to launch in India during 2015 Diwali festive season.
Codename Kite is based on comprehensively re-worked XO platform, making it a re-engineered Indica basically. It will accommodate Tata Motors’ newly developed 1.2 litre Revotron petrol engine that is featured in Zest and Bolt, but possibly in lower tune, producing probably around 70 PS max power. Diesel version of Tata Kite will be powered by all-new (yet-to-debut) 1.05 litre motor, generating likely around 65 PS max power.

Tata Kite could be targeted at commercial sector as it replaces the cabbies’ favourite Indica and Indigo eCS, in which case, or in any case, high mileage return can be anticipated.
Expect Kite compact sedan to be priced just around Rs. 4 lakhs (ex-showroom), while Tata Kite hatchback would be priced at around Rs. 3.90 lakhs.
