The Tata Kite hatchback (codename) is all set to be unveiled in the first week of December. The automaker gave us a partial glimpse of the new small car via its promotional video featuring football legend Lionel Messi.
A second teaser, this time a complete sketch of the hatchback, has been released, giving us a fair idea on what to expect. The Maruti Celerio rival features a youthful design which continues to carry forward Tata Motors’ core design DNA. The smiley grille with humanity line is retained but the headlamps and bumper get sharper.
The silhouette is reminiscent of the Indica eV2 with which it shares the platform but the sheet metal design and day light opening have a much more modern appeal. The rear fascia ditches the Indica’s mundane X-Mas tree combination light setup in favor of a simple conventional design. One can expect a chrome applique on the hatch door.
Spyshots revealed a fresh interior design with a neat centre console and a Zest-derived multi-function steering wheel. The Kite is expected to retain the Indica’s spaciousness.
Based on the heavily refurbished X0 platform, the Kite hatchback would be powered by new 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol and 1.2-litre three-cylinder diesel engines.
