Tata Kite launch in second week of Jan 2016, price under INR 4 lakh

Tata Motors will officially unveil the Kite hatchback at a media event in Goa on 1st December 2015.

Based on Tata XO platform, Tata Kite hatchback will be offered in both petrol and diesel engine option. These include a new 1.2 liter four cylinder petrol Revotron engine with peak power at 75 hp and peak torque at 120 Nm and a completely new 1.05 liter diesel engine capable of 64 hp power and 142Nm torque. (power and torque figures are estimated)

Both these engines will be mated to 5 speed manual gearbox. An option of automated manual transmission (AMT) is also expected to be on offer. Mileage figures could go upto 25 kmpl for the diesel variants, while petrol variants could deliver above 20 kmpl.

Tata Kite's Lionel Messi TVC

Tata Motors Global Brand Ambassador, Lionel Messi will feature in the Kite TVC.

To be produced from Tata Motors plant in Sanand, Gujarat, the Kite hatchback will sport a new honeycomb grille, bug eyed headlamps and wrap around tail lamps. Its exterior will be dominated by strong character lines and distinctive styling while interiors will sport black and beige accents.

Interiors will sport a 2 DIN audio system, electrically controlled ORVMs and rectangular air conditioning vents. The three spoke steering will come in with both audio and telephone controls where the top end variants are concerned while the cabin is spacious and comfortable for upto 5 adults.

Though the car will be officially detailed early next month, launch is going to take place in the second week of January 2016. Once launched, Kite will compete with the likes of Chevrolet Beat, Maruti Wagon R, Maruti Celerio and Hyundai i10. Expect Tata Kite price to be in the range of INR 3.8 to 5.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
