Not that Tata Kite test mule has shed its camouflage, but clear pictures reveal somewhat of what’s underneath and we see much of typical Tata design.Tata Kite is the upcoming replacement for the much acclaimed Indica. It is based on intensely re-worked XO platform, meaning Kite is essentially a re-engineered Indica. But it would not be doing just the same as what Indica is perceived to be meant for, Tata Kite hatchback will sit above Tata Nano and below Bolt to compete with Maruti Celerio, Datsun Go, Hyundai Eon, upcoming Renault XBA, Chevrolet Beat and the like. If Tata Motors stresses on Kite’s build quality and adds some premium touch, which they most likely will not be doing, the hatchback would step into slightly higher segment to rival Honda Brio, Hyundai Grand i10 and such.
Tata Kite will also come with a compact sedan variant, which will replace Indigo to compete with lower variants of Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze, and the like, while Tata Zest takes care of battling the higher models.
