Tata Motors first Indian OEM to launch ESC equipped trucks – Video

Tata Motors Head of Commercial Vehicles, Mr Girish Wagh has made an announcement that Tata Motors is the first OEM in India to deploy Electronic Stability Control (ESC) technology in all M&HCVs in its range. Apart from ESC, the company is also ready with Automatic Traction Control (ATC) and Hill Start Assist technology for its range of trucks and buses.

These safety technologies are developed by Tata Motors in association with Wabco India making Tata Motors the first Indian company to offer these safety technologies on its range of medium and heavy commercial vehicles. Tata Motors will be offering ESC on Prima tractors 4025.S, 4925 and trucks 2523T, 3123T and 3723T and Signa LPS 4018 and LPS 4923 besides LPT platforms of 25T, 31T and 37T.

Thanks to ESC, trucks are prevented from rolling over

ESC helps in eliminating over 50% of rollover crashes and reduces loss of control crashes by as much as 25%. This ESC technology will also offer complete value to customers thanks to increased vehicle stability, reduction of accident risk and cost of repairs. It will also enhance vehicle uptime, road safety and efficiency.

ESC is added on Anti Lock Braking System which is a part of the mandatory compliance as per Central Motor Vehicle Rules by the Government of India for all vehicles over 12 ton GVC. Automatic Traction Control (ATC) prevents wheel spin during acceleration and is particularly efficient on slippery surfaces like mining, ice and water. This extends life of tyre and avoiding loss of traction of one or more wheels. Hill Start Assist (HAS) prevents roll back of vehicle during Stop & Go. It minimizes clutch and brake liner wear and tear as well.
