Tata Motors IMPACT Design 2.0 showcase for passenger cars at Auto Expo 2018

Tata Motors IMPACT Design 2.0 in passenger vehicles promises a new design language as the auto major gets set to redefine some segments. An insight will only be available in a month’s time at ‘Smart Mobility, Smart Cities’ at the Tata Motors’ pavilion at Hall No 14. Tata Motors will showcase 26 smart mobility solutions across its passenger and commercial vehicles.

In keeping with Government of India’s smart city goals that rely on connected eco-systems, Tata Motors’ end-to-end integrated mobility solutions across commercial and passenger vehicles puts the auto major in a position that fits the role of future development.

Tata Motors is committed to public transport, personal cars, last mile connectivity, BRTS, emergency response vehicles, commercial utility vehicles, and green and sustainable solutions. Tata Motors IMPACT design language came into being in 2016 and is a combined effort of teams in UK, Turin and India.

Tata Motors IMPACT Design 1.0 was outlined as follows for Passenger Vehicles.
1. Exciting architecture and pleasing proportions will be standard e.g. best in segment size & location of the wheels, perfectly proportioned cabin to body ratio and hood to cabin relationship
2. Expressive surfaces and graphics e.g. front face framed by the Humanity Line; dynamism amplified by the Slingshot line; movement created by the Diamond Window
3. Extraordinary: Details inspired by Indian Architecture

The Interior of the vehicle will be defined through ‘INviting’, ‘INtelligent’ and ‘INtouch’ features.
1. Inviting interior architecture and proportions including Layered Cockpit Design; Driver Focussed layout; Outstanding Textures, Fabrics and Materials
2. Intelligent Cabin Layout with clever storage spaces, surprise and delight features. All displays, commands and controls will be within easy and intuitive reach
3. Intouch and connected to the world inside and outside the vehicle

Tata Tiago hatchback was the first new car launched under the IMPACT Design philosophy, followed by Tata Hexa SUV, Tata Tigor, and Tata Nexon. All four vehicles have positively contributed to Tata Motors sales in recent months.

In December 2017, Tata Motors’ Passenger Vehicles sales was reported at 14,180 units, up from 10,827 units in Dec’ ’16 at 31% growth. It marked the company’s highest December sales in 5 years, and highest in last 6 years. UV segment recorded 406% growth owing to the success of Nexon and Hexa. Cumulative sales growth of Passenger Vehicles in the domestic market (April-Dec 2017) was reported at 129,229 units compared to 112,539 units, a growth of 15% over last year.
