Rising input costs and the fact that other industry players having already announced to increase price hike from 1st Jan 2017, today Tata Motors also announeced a price hike of up to INR 25,000 of all their cars. This also includes Tata Tiago, their best-selling car today.
Tata Motors has not revealed exactly how much will be the price hike per their respective car. That detail will be revealed in the coming days. As of now, they have stated that price hike will affect all their cars and it will range from INR 5,000 to INR 25,000.
Tata Motors last announced a price hike in October 2016, just ahead of the Diwali 2016 season. At that time the car maker had increased prices to up to INR 12,000.
Tata Motors passenger vehicle range includes the Nano to the crossover Aria, all presented in a price range from INR 2.15 lakhs to INR 16.30 lakhs. The company has extensive plans of increasing this portfolio by adding the likes of Nexon, Kite5, new generation Nano and Hexa over the coming months. (Read Tata Hexa Review)
Post the launch of Tata Tiago, the company has been posting a positive growth in their passenger car business. For the last two months, Tiago sales have averaged at 6,000 units. The last Tata car to post that kind of sales was more than 4 years ago.
