Tata Motors passenger vehicles 51% sales decline in December 2012


Tata MotorsTata Motors, India’s largest automobile company and the world’s 18th largest vehicle manufacturer saw sales to the tune of 65,582 units during the month of December 2012. Out of this, domestic sales of commercial and passenger vehicles together clocked 61,700 units while exports stood at 3,882 units. Sales of Tata Motors during the fiscal stood at 613,750 units.

Tata Motors sold 47,515 commercial vehicles out of which 37,649 were light commercial vehicles and 9,866 were of medium to heavy commercial vehicles in December 2012. Sales of passenger vehicles during the month stood at 14,185 units as against 28,916 units sold in December 2011. Tata Manza Club Class and Safari Storme are two recently introduced models which are gaining in popularity.

Safari Storme is launched in markets of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Goa with more cities being added in the not too distant future. Sales of Tata Nano, Indica and Indigo continue grow with 11,257 units sold in December while cumulative sales of passenger vehicles in December stood at 183,977 units.
