Tata Motors 1st automobile company to enroll under Udaan Scheme for J&K youth employment opportunities

These facilities are being offered to graduates, post graduates and those who hold a 3 year engineering diploma from J&K. These youngsters will be trained by Tata Motors for a period of 6 months at NITTR Bhopal / Amity Noida and at Tata Motors’ Service Training Centres after which they will be offered employment at a range of company dealerships across the country as Assistant Works Managers.

Tata Motors will be offering these young trainees a unique opportunity to enhance their knowledge in the field of vehicle operation and service and to hone their skills in this area. The Udaan program is an industry led program to tap young and educated talent in J&K and also to ensure that they receive equal employment opportunities. NSDC has a total of 33 corporates engaged in these activities under the Skill Development Mission.

Tata Motors is visiting Govt. Polytechnic, Bikram Chowk, Jammu on 25-26 June and University of Kashmir, Centre of Career Planning & Counseling, Srinagar on 21 – 22 June. Student Eligibility inhcludes Graduate / Diploma Engineers from Mechanical / Automobile / Production disciplines (from an AICTE approved institute) under the age of 30 as on 1 June, 2013. Graduate Engineers are required to have 3 years, and  Diploma Engineers between 4 – 7 years of industrial experience.

Sanjeev Garg, Global Head- Customer Care of Tata Motors said, “The move to collaborate with NSDC under the Udaan scheme is to create employment opportunities for the educated youth of J&K by providing them with skillful practical knowledge of vehicle operations and service. The scheme also enables us to plug in this skilled knowledgeable set of trained youth, into our vast and growing commercial vehicle network, helping us sustain our service levels”

Dilip Chenoy, CEO & MD, NSDC said, “We are delighted to work with Tata Motors in ensuring that the NSDC’s aim of contributing significantly (about 30 per cent) to the overall target of skilling and upskilling 500 million people in India by 2022. The Udaan programme is one of the premier programs in the country that focuses on equitable opportunities for the youth of J&K, through a well-structured skill development program. Tata Motors Certified Works Manager scheme promises to provide employment to thousands of youth in J&K.”
