Tata Magic Iris gets pink makeover for Veerangana Express: Rickshaw service for women, by women

Veerangana Express, a cab service for women, by women in Gwalior has been launched. Initially launched with 8 Tata Magic Iris, this is the first four wheel special auto rickshaw service of its kind.

To ply within Municipal limits in Gwalior, Veerangana Express is affordable, comfortable and safe cab service which is funded by Laxmibai Mahila Sahakari Bank. This initiative has received support of both District Collector and Transport Department and to ensure its feasibility, the facility is assisted by District Industrial centre offering a 30% subsidy under Mukhya Mantri Swarojgar Yojana.

Exclusively managed by ladies, Veerangana Express is easy to manage and offers several features that not only contribute to high savings but also proves profitable for owners. Set to encourage use by women travellers, Tata Magic Iris painted pink and white, is safe and fitted with GPS vehicle tracking device thus making it safer than any other vehicle in the auto rickshaw category.

 A similar service was also announced in Pakistan earlier this year. Pink Rickshaw initiative in Pakistan.

Built of steel body and hard top with double steel sheet doors, the Tata Magic Iris protects its occupants from vagaries of nature be it heat, dust or rain. Entry and exit is easy while seating comfortable thanks to additional head and leg room along with seat belts. Ride is smooth due to the inclusion of McPherson strut suspension and driver’s comforts are catered to with an agronomical sliding bucket seat, a large windshield, side mirrors and dashboard mounted gear shifter. Tata Magic Iris is powered by a 611 cc water cooled engine offering 11 hp peak power and 31 Nm peak torque and runs on 12” radial tyres.
