Tata Motors had showcased the new Nexon AMT at the 2018 Auto Expo, which took place earlier this month. Bookings of the car have opened, reveals reader Pujan Patel. You can book one by paying an amount of Rs 11,000 at a Tata authorized dealership.
Set to rival the likes of Ford EcoSport, Vitara Brezza and Mahindra TUV300 AMT, new Nexon AMT, will be launched in the weeks ahead and will be presented in both petrol and diesel engine options.
Unveiled at 2018 Auto Expo in a distinctive new exterior paint of Etna Orange is the only visual detail that sets the AMT variant apart from Tata Nexon manual variants. Engine specifications on the Tata Nexon AMT will include a 1.2 liter turbo petrol engine and a 1.5 liter diesel engine mated to an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT).
The 1.2 liter turbocharged petrol engine offers 108 bhp power at 5,000rpm and 170 Nm torque at 1,750 rpm. The 1.5 liter turbodiesel engine is capable of 108 bhp power at 3,750 rpm and 260 Nm torque at 1,500 rpm. Mileage figures are not revealed yet, but they are expected to be pretty close to what the manual variants claim.
Tata Nexon AMT will sport features such as creep mode, reducing need for throttle inputs in stop/go driving and hill assist that prevents the vehicle from rolling back over inclines. Driving modes from the manual Nexon continue on the AMT variants and drivers will be able to shift gears manually using Tiptronic mode.
The new Nexon AMT will also sport three driving modes – Eco, City and Sport. The AMT offering will be limited to the Tata Nexon XMA and top spec XTA trims. Price will be revealed at launch.
