Tata NEXON AMT with HyprDrive Self-Shift Gears has been launched in India. Only available with the topend variant, Nexon AMT petrol variant is priced from Rs 9.41 lakhs and diesel variant is priced from Rs 10.3 lakhs.
Tata NEXON AMT becomes the first AMT model in India to receive multi drive modes of Eco, City and Sport. With the introduction of this model, Tata Motors brands all its 2 pedal transmission cars as Hyprdrive and all AMT variants as Self-Shift Gears (S-SG).
According to Mr. Mayank Pareek, President- Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors, said, “Our focus is to introduce products and services that not only enhance the brand, but simultaneously align well with the rising aspirations of customer segments. AMT as a transmission is ideally suited for India’s traffic conditions, reducing the stress of driving at an affordable price, without compromising on fuel efficiency. With the introduction of the Hyprdrive S-SG in the NEXON, we aim to tap a larger market and increase our market share in not only the Compact SUV segment but also the AMT segment. Additionally, understanding the growing need for personalization among Indian customers, we are introducing the ‘IMAGINATOR’ – our online platform to visualize and customize the NEXON.”
Nexon Hyprdrive S-SG is offered in both Petrol and Diesel options powered by 1.2 liter turbocharged Revotron and 1.5liter turbocharged Revotorq engines. Fuel efficiency of AMT models will remain the same as that seen on manual variants at around 11 kmpl with petrol and 15 kmpl with diesel in city driving conditions.
Nexon Hyprdrive S-SG gets ‘Crawl Function’ that allows the car to move ahead in slow moving traffic conditions without pressing on the accelerator. ‘Smart Hill Assist’ allows the Nexon to gain control over up-hill drives and prevents the car from rolling back.
‘Intelligent Transmission Controller’ will also be seen on the new Nexon Hyprdrive S-SG with features such as anti-stall, kick-down and fast-off. It also receives ‘Manual Tip-Tronic Transmission’ to allow shifting of gears manually with clutch free drive experience and ‘PEPS Key’, an activity key wristband, allowing customers to leave their key fob behind and yet lock, unlock and start the car.
