Tata Nexon base variant spied on test – Reveals interiors for the first time
The crossover will be powered by an all-new 1.5-litre diesel engine.
The fully camouflaged pre-production test mule of the Tata Nexon compact crossover is slowly becoming a common sight on the highways in India. A reader of our’s Mr Aditya Raneja Joshi, bumped into one of the prototypes recently. These latest photos show us how the interiors of the base variant of the Nexon will be.
As seen in the images, Nexon base variant will come with a 2 DIN audio system, rotary drive modes (as seen in Hexa), knb controlled AC controls (as seen on old Indica), etc. It does not get the JBL powered infotainment system with floating touchscreen.
The sub-4 metre SUV was showcased it its production avatar at the Auto Expo 2016 in January but the development work is still on. The Maruti Vitara Brezza rival shares its platform with the Zest/Bolt twins. While the petrol engine would be the 1.2-litre Revotron turbocharged unit, the diesel engine is an all-new 1.5-litre four-cylinder RevoTorq unit generating 110 PS. Both manual transmission and AMT (spied earlier) will be on offer.
The Tata Nexon follows the brand’s new Impact design philosophy which retains the recognizable silhouette with rounded off edges. The finer elements of the design, however, are fresh. Tata’s design firms from across the world have contributed to the final styling of the Nexon.
We expect the fully loaded variants to offer standard front airbags, ABS with EBD, a touchscreen Harman infotainment system, projector headlamps, alloy wheels, foglights, automatic climate control, powered ORVMs and so on. The newly patented start-stop system could also find its way onboard.
