Tata Nexon debuts at 2016 Auto Expo

Spied on test on a number of occasions, the Tata Nexon compact SUV in production ready guise has made global debut at the 2016 Auto Expo. Seen with design cues borrowed from Land Rover Evoque, Tata Nexon promises a bold stance and a premium look.

Launch of Nexon SUV will take place later this year. Once launched it will compete with the likes of Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV300 and the Maruti Vitara Brezza.

Based on the same platform as that of the new Bolt, Tata Nexon is a sporty SUV built for the young generation. It features dual tone colour on the outside, bulkier stance, plastic claddings on the side, LED DRLs in the front, LED taillgihts, new alloys, projector headlamps, chrome grille, foglights, ORVM with turn indicators, and a matte black roof with roof spoiler protruding at the rear.
At the Auto Expo, interiors were not revealed. But spy shots from the past confirm interiors of Nexon will be similar to that of Bolt or Zest. The dashboard design will be modified a bit, while it will receive the same 3 spoke steering wheel, new horizontal AC vents and instrument cluster along with rotary controls for its HVAC system. Touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control will be a part of the features seen on the top end trim of the Tata Nexon compact SUV.

Tata Nexon will be powered by a new diesel engine which Tata has developed under the Revotorq family. This will be a four cylinder 1.5 liter engine which will deliver 110 PS power via a 6 speed MT. Petrol engine is expected to be in the form of 1.2 liter Revotron delivering 90 PS power.
