A test mule of the Tata Nexon electric was recently spied, signalling its impending launch. This electric sub 4 meter SUV is likely to head to the 2020 Auto Expo in February with launch date set for soon after. The images were shared by Team BHP member RavenAvi.

These new spy shots of the Nexon electric come a few days after the facelifted Nexon variant was spied. Unlike the facelifted Nexon, the Nexon Electric is wearing the same body as that of current Nexon.

Facelifted 2020 Tata Nexon will be the company’ fourth car to follow Tata’s IMPACT 2.0 design language after the Harrier and soon to be launched Altroz and H2X micro SUV. The model on test showed off its exterior design makeup, especially its front end which gets a host of changes as compared to its current counterpart, however, design elements to the rear remains mostly the same.

Speaking about the Nexon Electric, it will share its powertrain with the Altroz EV. In a recent interview with Live Mint, Tata Motors revealed that they are aiming at a 220 kms drive range for their upcoming electric cars. This may well be true for the Nexon electric SUV as well. Nexon EV is expected to cost about Rs 15 lakhs.

Tata has four electric vehicles in the pipeline which include the Nexon EV, Altroz EV and Tigor EV along with a yet undisclosed model. Tata Motors also has the Tigor EV currently on sale for fleet operators in the country which offers a range of 140 kms on full charge. Tata Motors will be upgrading the batter of Tigor EV next year, which will deliver more drive range.

Speaking about Nexon facelift, it sports an upright nose, angular headlamps, sleek projector units and a humanity line grille. The front bumper design has been changed for the 2020 model year while Nexon facelift could sit on newly designed 16” alloy wheels. Interiors have not yet been detailed, but updates could see a larger touchscreen infotainment system, a new steering wheel design and refreshed seating.

It could also receive rain sensing wipers and cruise control while safety will be enhanced as the Nexon is deemed as India’s safest car with a 5 Star rating at Global NCAP. Safety features as seen on the current model include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat anchors and rear parking sensors.
