Tata Nexon EV charges from any 15 Amp plug – Video

Tata Nexon electric charge

As the story of Tata Nexon EV is unfolding with Milind Soman and Ankita Kanwar, we are getting to know the true potential of this latest creation by Tata Motors. It may be recalled that Milind and Ankita are on a mission to test Nexon EV, as they journey from Manali to Leh. This route is one of the most gruelling in the country, perfect for testing any vehicle.

At their halt in Keylong, Milind and Ankita test the ease of charging Nexon EV. When it comes to electric vehicles, people often worry about getting stranded with a drained battery, especially at remote locations.

However, as shown in the video, it’s clear that charging Nexon EV is possible even at remote locations. The only things required is a 15 Ampere plug point and may be an extension cord if the plug point is located at a distance or on upper floors. Most homes and hotels have 15 Ampere plug points.

Once plugged in for charging, users can track progress via Nexon EV Telematic App. Just like a mobile phone, the app shows the current charge level and the time needed to reach full charge. When using the standard charger with a 15 Amp plug point, Nexon EV can be fully charged overnight. For quick results, users can use the fast charger supplied with Nexon EV.

Nexon EV comes with revolutionary Ziptron technology and is powered by an advanced lithium-ion battery pack. The battery has been extensively tested for Indian conditions for more than 1 million km. It is rated IP67, one of the highest ratings for improved protection against water and dust. Users don’t have to worry about changing their batteries, as it comes with best-in-class 8-year warranty.

One of the best things about Ziptron technology is that it offers the best combo of power and range. Even when users are zipping through at high speeds, there will be minimal impact on overall range. On a full charge, Nexon EV can travel around 300 km. Tata Motors will introduce its Ziptron technology in other cars as well such as Altroz EV and updated Tigor EV.

Nexon EV is expected to be launched at a price of Rs 15-17 lakh. Its primary rival is also in the making – the all-electric Mahindra XUV300, expected to debut by mid-2020.
