Along with all the new equipment and design elements, Nexon facelift might even get a new name to establish a more premium appeal
For a long time, Nexon has had a strong lead over other sub 4m SUVs and SUVs in general. Brezza has now taken the lead in February 2023 and is now the highest-selling SUV in India. Drop in sales for Nexon can be accounted for by recent developments of the upcoming facelifted model already in testing phase.
This would be the second facelift that Nexon is receiving since launch and is likely to break cover by the end of 2023. In recent clearer pictures we received, Harrier and Safari inspired LED tail lights are clearly visible for the first time. This will be one of the key changes on the upcoming Nexon facelift, among many.
Nexon Facelift Gets Harrier, Safari Inspired Tail Lights
Tata Motors have iteratively updated Nexon. One can say that updates have been evolutionary, instead of revolutionary. But, we have to say Tata has a knack for transforming looks with iterative changes. First facelift that Nexon got in 2020 has worked wonders on the vehicle, completely transforming its looks.
Now, Tata is set to achieve a similar agenda with the second facelift. This time around, Tata Motors seems to be borrowing a lot of design elements from its flagship Harrier and Safari. There have been multiple test mules in the recent past, but none of them reveal any distinct design elements, until now.
Thanks to automotive enthusiast Padmasinh Patil, we now have clearer images of said Nexon facelift. The main highlight is tail lights. Upcoming Nexon facelift gets tail lights inspired by Harrier and Safari. New tail lights on Nexon will be larger and wider than on outgoing model, reminiscent of Harrier and Safari.
With the first facelift, Tata had only changed LED elements inside the same housing, while this time around it can get an all-new housing. Few buyers are likely to wait for the upcoming Nexon facelift, creating a slight drop in sales, until the Nexon facelift is launched by the end of 2023.
Specs & Features
Upcoming Nexon facelift is likely to retain the same set of powertrains as the outgoing model. We’re talking about a 1.2L turbo-petrol engine (currently) making 118 bhp of power and 170 Nm of torque and a 1.5L turbo-diesel engine making 113 bhp of power and 260 Nm of torque. With phase II of BS6 transitions kicking in, the 1.2L petrol will make 123 bhp and 225 Nm torque. Nexon diesel will retain its current numbers.
As unfolded in our previous post, Nexon is being tested with a new DCT transmission. It is not yet known whether it is the same 6-speed unit as found in Altroz DCT or a new one. This will replace the 6-speed AMT, while a 6-speed MT will be offered as is.
Upcoming Nexon facelift will get the new 10.2” touchscreen unit as seen with Red Dark Editions of Harrier and Safari and Altroz Racer. This new screen will feature a new UI which is a lot slicker than outgoing software running a 7” screen on Nexon, a 7” digital instrument console, ADAS tech and 6-airbags. New Facelifted Nexon prices could be in the range of Rs 8 lakh to Rs 15 lakh, ex-sh.
