Tata Motors unveiled their new Nexon SUV at the 2016 Auto Expo. To be launched later this year, Tata Nexon SUV has now been spied in Kolkata, West Bengal. Based on the same platform as Bolt and Zest, Nexon will be powered by a new diesel engine from the Revotorq family. This new engine is a 1.5 liter 4-cyl engine generating 110 PS via a six-speed MT.
Nothing has been said about what will power the Nexon petrol variant. It could be the same 1.2 liter 4-cyl Revotron engine which is also seen on board the Bolt / Zest or a new unit built under the Revotron family.
Featuring a sporty exterior, Nexon has been designed at Tata Motors design studios in Italy, UK and India. First showcased as a concept at the 2014 Auto Expo, the one you see in the image above is about 95% similar to what the production ready variant will be like.
Apart from this, Tata Motors will also offer extensive customization and personalization options with the Nexon. On the inside, it will get airbags, spacious cabin, touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, steering mounted controls, Harman music system, etc.
Expected to be launched later this year, around the festive season, Tata Nexon will rival the likes of Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV300 and the upcoming Maruti Vitara Brezza.
