Tata Nexon compact crossover to look like a mini Evoque, will debut new 110 bhp 1.5 litre diesel engine

Tata Nexon concept was first showcased at 2014 Delhi Auto Expo under the Horizonext umbrella of future products, right in time when compact SUVs were already gaining immense popularity. Production version was then expected to launch this year.

Nexon is a sub-4 metre crossover; concept version measured 1.73 m of width, 1.6 metre of height, 2.54 metre of wheelbase and 200+ mm of ground clearance.
Tata Nexon is based on re-engineered Vista / Manza platform codenamed X1, that underpins Zest and Bolt. Similar design elements were expected in production model, but according to Autocar, the compact SUV is going to look like a mini Range Rover Evoque with steeply raked roofline and massive road presence. Tata Motors, being a utility centric automaker, is said to be ready to compromise on interior space (rear occupants’ head room in this case) to improve the car’s looks. Upmarket appeal to be further enhanced by enlarging wheel arches to be able to accommodate 17-inch alloy wheels.
