Reader shares his opinion about Tata Nexon test mule spied in the Himalayas

With due respect I am a Civil Engineer by profession but a car enthusiast. I am from Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh. I don’t know how to write a blog must here is my experience.

Till today I have spotted many camouflage vehicles on the way to Manali as my city is in the middle of Manali – Chandigarh highway. Usually companies try to test there vehicles in Manali, Spiti and high altitude areas of Himalayas.

But today I tried to click pictures for the very first time. As I was driving & I was all alone in the vehicle so I was driving and clicking pictures both simultaneously. It was bit difficult but as i am use to of these roads, so i have managed easily.

But I was not able to click pictures from front side. I have spotted TATA NEXON today and also two days i have spotted that same vehicle so i can say TATA is testing there vehicle in lower and upper Himalayas and earlier also last year Tata Hexa was spotted in Lauhal Spiti near bBaralachla pass so Tata use to test there vehicles in Himachal and I have seen that many times. But come to the point (TATA NEXON) as a customers point of view.

1) Front is dominated by led DRl’s with projector headlamps but they are not huge, they look like small LED’s we have seen in Maruti Vitara Brezza.

2) Dash was almost covered so i cannot spot anything there.

3)Even with projector headlamps seems like top end variant or may be a bit lower than top variant but there are no Alloy wheels. Spotted vehicle was having normal wheels.

4) When the vehicle was on Traffic lights even then the tail lights were not working. I guess they don’t want to show how tail look like when we press the breaks but I guess it will be LED.

But i was shocked to see that front LED’s were turned on and even in broad day light we can spot easily but they just look like sub 10 lakh bracket vehicle LED’s. So don’t expect like Toyota Fortuner or Ford Endeavour, Merecedes, BMW or Audi like LED which blows your mind.

5) ENGINE – In this half an hour of journey I overtake Nexon twice and even give him pass. But I can tell the way the vehicle was responding and it overtakes me, I can say its a Diesel as it has the mid range punch which shows & i can sense that the torque is going to be really really good as Tata is known for that too. It must be a Tata’s new 1.5 litre Turbo engine which produce 105-110 bhp and torque will be around 230-250 Nm.

6)Looks

Front – It was great and I can say it will be a threat to Vitara Brezza & upcoming New Ecosport.

Rear – It look like EcoSport sub 4 meter vehicle but inside leg room and the wheelbase seems to be larger.
