Renault sold 12,300 cars in September 2016, up 590% as compared to 1,781 units sold in the same period a year earlier. More than 10,000 units of these were thanks to the newly launched Kwid.
Tata Motors announced an 8% increase in sales. Total sales stood at 48,648 units in September 2016 as compared to sales of 45,215 units in September 2015.
Domestic sales of passenger and commercial vehicles of the company increased 5% to 42,961 units while sales of passenger vehicles in domestic markets surged 24% to 14,601 units as against 11,732 units sold in the same period of the previous year. Even as the Tata Tiago contributed heavily to sales, the company also gears up for the launch of the Hexa next month.
In the commercial vehicle segment, Tata Motors reported a 2% dip in sales at 28,360 units while exports increased 29% to 5,687 units as compared to 4,402 units sold during September 2015. The company now looks ahead to the festive season to add to sales momentum during October and November.
Honda Cars India suffered a setback in September 2016 when sales dipped 20%. Honda sold 15,439 units in September 2016 of which 15,034 units comprised domestic sales while 405 units were exported. The company had sold 18,509 units in September 2015. The company’s best seller in the past month was the Honda City of which 5,855 units were sold. Yesterday, the company launched updated Brio, which is expected to boost sales during the festive season.
