Priced from Rs 17.99 lakh ex-sh, the Turbo Petrol Sierra is only offered with Adventure+, Accomplished and Accomplished+ trims

Tata Motors has announced a major milestone for its newly introduced Hyperion 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, which powers the higher-spec variants of the all-new Tata Sierra. During a high-speed test run at the NATRAX proving track in Indore, the Sierra equipped with this powertrain achieved a top speed of 222 km/h, making it the fastest Sierra ever produced and one of the quickest SUVs in its class.

This impressive figure highlights the performance capability of Tata’s newest petrol engine, which has been developed specifically to offer higher power delivery, improved responsiveness and enhanced refinement for premium trims of the Sierra. Read our Tata Sierra Review here.

Hyperion 1.5L Turbo Petrol Priced From Rs 17.99 Lakh, Ex-sh

The Hyperion engine is paired exclusively with a 6-speed automatic gearbox and is offered only on the Adventure+, Accomplished and Accomplished+ variants of the Sierra. Pricing for this powertrain starts at Rs 17.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

Tata has intentionally reserved this new engine for the higher variants, meaning the base and mid-spec trims do not get the Hyperion option, instead continuing with the regular 1.5 NA petrol, turbo petrol and diesel engines. This helps Tata position the Hyperion-powered Sierra as a more premium, performance-oriented offering within the lineup.

Modern Sierra Makes Headlines Again

The new Tata Sierra has already become one of the most talked-about SUVs in India. Launched at a starting price of Rs 11.49 lakh, Sierra has attracted attention for its bold design, large dimensions, premium interior layout and long list of features. Its boxy silhouette, imposing stance and unique Alpine Window effect give it a road presence unmatched in its segment.

Dimensions stand at 4,340 mm length, 1,841 mm width, 1,715 mm height, and 2,730 mm wheelbase, making it wider, taller and visually larger than most SUVs in the 4.2–4.4m category. Ground clearance is a healthy 205 mm, and boot space is a massive 622 litres when loaded to the roof.

Feature-Rich, Tech-Loaded Cabin

The Sierra is the first Tata SUV to feature a triple-screen layout, consisting of two 12.3-inch touchscreens and a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster. This is powered by Snapdragon computing, ensuring smooth UI performance. Other highlights include slimmest-in-segment LED headlights, connected LED DRLs, 19-inch alloy wheels, powered tailgate, flush door handles, and the large PanoraMax panoramic sunroof.

Inside, the feature list is extensive—ADAS Level 2, ventilated seats, dual-zone climate control, JBL 12-speaker system, paddle shifters, adjustable thigh support, powered driver seat with memory, fast 65W USB-C charging, AR-infused HUD, rear sunblinds and more.

Powertrain Options for Every Buyer

Along with the Hyperion 1.5L turbo petrol, Sierra is available with three other engine options:

• 1.5L NA Petrol
• 1.5L Turbo Petrol (standard version)
• 1.5L Turbo Diesel

Manual and automatic transmissions are offered depending on variant and engine choice. Tata’s ARGOS platform, which underpins the Sierra, is also capable of supporting AWD and CNG, both of which are expected to be introduced later.
