A heavily camouflaged test mule of the Tata Zica-based compact sedan has been spotted testing near Satara by a Team-bhp forum member. Reported to be called as the Tata Sway, the sub-4 metre sedan will be positioned below the Zest.
The Sway is touted to be the Indigo eCS’ successor but the old car is most likely to continue catering to the taxi market. The new compact sedan will remain faithful to its hatchback sibling from the front bumper all way up to the C-Pillar. Going by the Zica, we are expecting an interesting design for the rear fascia. In profile, the Sway is essentially a Zica with a stunted boot.
The interior too will be derived from the Zica which means the Sway will offer dual-tone black-beige color theme, a multifunction steering wheel and an infotainment system with Bluetoooth connectivity and smartphone enabled turn-by-turn voice navigation system.
Based on the heavily re-engineered version of the XO platform, the Tata Sway would share its powertrain lineup with the hatchback. The 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron petrol engine develops 85 PS and 114 Nm of torque while the 1.05-litre three-cylinder Revotorq diesel motor is capable of 70 PS and 140 Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual transmission will be standard across the range.
