Tata Tiago, the new small car from Tata which competes with the likes of Maruti Celerio and Hyundai i10, has already registered over 20,000 bookings. Tata Motors themselves are surprised with this number as they stated recently that the demand has exceeded their expectations.
Available in both petrol and diesel engine options, it is the petrol variant of Tiago which is more in demand. 70-80% of bookings are for petrol variants, reveals a report.
In order to meet clear this huge order book, Tata Motors has stepped up production of Tiago at their plant in Sanand, Gujarat. Tata Motors has started second shift of production at company’s Sanand plant. This increased output is slated to emerge in the next few days putting supply and demand back on track.
Tata Tiago is powered by a 1.2 liter, 3 cylinder, Revotron petrol engine and a 1.0 liter, 3 cylinder Revotorq diesel engine. While the former is capable of 83.8 bhp power and 114 Nm torque, the diesel engine offers 69 bhp power and 140 Nm torque.
Both engines are mated to 5 speed manual gearbox. Tata Tiago is priced from INR 3.2 lakhs for petrol engine variants, and INR 3.94 lakhs for diesel variants. These are introductory prices and Tata Motors will be hiking priced of the Tiago models sometime soon.
