Tiago EV is being offered at a starting price of Rs 8.69 lakh; top-spec variant to cost Rs 11.99 lakh
After grabbing the first-mover advantage in electric SUV space with Nexon EV, Tata Motors is aggressively eying the entry-level EV segment. Creating a sub-10 lakh electric car was never easy, but Tata has moved there first with Tiago EV. Of course, rivals are not far behind, for example, Citroen eC3 is already here, while MG Comet EV will be launched in a few days.
At a starting price of Rs 8.69 lakh, it is clear that Tata is offering an irresistible deal to folks looking for a small car. It is likely to motivate many to choose electric over ICE. Initial response has been overwhelming. Most of the deliveries done till now were of the top spec variants. Now, first batch of Tata Tiago EV base variant has started to arrive at dealer showrooms.

Tata Tiago EV Battery Range, Specs
A 7.2 kW fast charger option is available with XZ+ and XZ+ Tech Lux. Excluding base-spec XE variant that has a medium range of 250 km, all other variants have a 315 km range. Only XT variant has option of both medium range and long range. Assuming that real-world range is closer to claimed range, both medium range and long-range variants of Tiago EV seem good enough for everyday needs. Inter-city journeys also seem doable.
While medium range variants have a 19.2 kWh battery pack, the long-range variants utilize a 24-kWh unit. The battery packs are IP67 rated weatherproof units and have been tested to work in extreme ambient conditions.
Tiago EV utilizes a permanent magnet synchronous motor. Medium range variants churn out 45 kW and 110 Nm whereas long range variants deliver 55 kW and 114 Nm. Acceleration from 0-60 kmph takes 6.2 seconds with medium variants and 5.7 seconds with long range variants. Tiago EV has multi-mode 4-level regenerative braking, which helps improve range.
