Tata Tiago JTP price Rs 6.39 lakhs – More powerful than Maruti Swift, Ford Figo

Tata Tiago JTP is officially launched in India. It is a sportier version of the Tiago and has been developed for Tata Motors by Coimbatore based Jayem Automobiles. Both companies are in 50:50 joint venture for production of high performance versions of regular Tata cars. Price of the Tata Tiago JTP is Rs 6.39 lakhs, ex-showroom. It will be on sale in only 11 cities, via 30 dealerships.

Just like the Tata Tigor JTP sedan, Tata Tiago JTP hatchback is seen with a revised front end. It gets sportier bumper design with large air intakes, new fog lamp housing and blacked out headlamps. It is also seen with contrasting ORVMs and sits on 15” diamond cut alloy wheels.

The JTP badging is displayed on its front grille, side apron and boot. It gets disc brakes in the front and drum brakes at the rear. It also gets lowered ground clearance, stiffer suspension, sets the Tiago JTP version apart from its regular model.

Interiors also sport some changes that distinguish the Tiago JTP from its regular counterpart. These changes include leather upholstered seating, aluminum pedals, steering wheel stitching and JTP floor mats. It also receives a touchscreen infotainment system and an 8 speaker Harman sound system.

It gets steering mounted controls and manual AC along with power windows. Difference on the inside between Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP – former gets manual AC, manual boot lid opener, while latter gets auto AC and electrically operated boot opener.

Tata Tiago JTP is powered by a 1.2 liter turbocharged Revotron engine producing 114 PS peak power and 150 Nm torque, making it significantly more powerful than the engine on the standard model which produces 84 bhp power and 114 Nm torque.

The engine gets mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. The tweaked engine allows for acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph in 9.95 seconds while stopping power from 100 to 0 kmph is possible in 29.98m.The Tata Tiago JTP entry into Indian markets will see it face with competition from the Maruti Swift, Baleno RS, Hyundai Grand i10 and Honda Brio. It is the fastest car in the segment, and also the most affordable.
