Launched in April 2016, the Tata Tiago was introduced under the IMPACT design philosophy. Today, Tata Motors celebrates the 2 lakh milestone attained by its much loved Tiago hatchback.
It commands a strong presence in the hatchback segment with its several first in class features, outstanding design, bold stance and 7 exciting exterior color options along with 22 variants.
The Tata Tiago is also the country’s most awarded compact hatchback. It has won the hearts of customers with its value for money proposition. It registers positive growth month after month despite being in the third year of production.
Over the past 3 years, the Tiago has come in with several updates. 2017 saw the introduction of two AMT variants – XZA and XTA and a festive edition – Tiago Wizz. 2018 brought with it the Tiago NRG, an Urban Toughroader along with JTP Special Vehicles, which was a part of the 50:50 association between Tata Motors and Jayem Automobiles. Post this, they also launched a new top end variant the Tiago XZ+. Later this year, they plan to launch Tiago facelift.
2018 saw Tiago post highest annual sales of 92,726 units. 2017 sales were at 71,111 while 2016 numbers were at 41,937 units. Total sales of these three years stand at 2,05,774 units. Average monthly sales of Tiago stood at 3,495 units in 2016, 5,926 units in 2017 and 7,727 units in 2018. In Jan 2019, Tiago sales stood at 8.041 units.

Tata Tiago is powered by two engine options that include a 1.2 liter Revotron 3 cylinder petrol engine offering 85 PS power and 114 Nm torque and a 1.05 liter 3 cylinder diesel engine offering 70PS and 140Nm of torque. The diesel engine is offered with a 5-speed manual only while the petrol engine is available with a 5-speed manual or an AMT. It rivals Maruti WagonR, Renault Kwid and Hyundai Santro.
