Tata Tiago hatchback and Tigor sedan get updated with Apple CarPlay. This update is available for the XZ+ variants only. Owners of these variant can visit their nearest company dealerships to get this update installed in their infotainment system.
Apart from updating the Tiago and Tigor XZ+ trims with Apple CarPlay, Tata Motors also plans to update other variants of both cars with the 7” touchscreen infotainment system. The Tata Hexa recently received the touchscreen infotainment system as a part of the 2019 model year. The same could receive Apple CarPlay software update soon. Harrier too has received the same update.
These updates bring the Tiago infotainment system on par with rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki WagonR and Hyundai Santro. The Tata Tigor rivals the Maruti Suzuki DZire, Honda Amaze and Ford Aspire, all of which have their infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Tata Tiago XZ+ variant is priced at Rs. 5.76-6.62 lakhs while the Tigor XZ+ is priced from Rs.6.84-7.73 lakhs. Tiago and Tigor are powered by a 1.2 liter, 3 cylinder Revotron petrol engine offering 85 PS power at 6,000 rpm and 114 Nm torque at 3,500 rpm mated to a 5 speed manual transmission.
It also gets powered by a 1.05 liter, 3 cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine offering 70 PS power at 4,000 rpm and 140 Nm torque at 1,800-3,000 rpm. These engines get mated to a 5 speed manual transmission as standard; while the petrol engine gets an optional 5 speed AMT. There are reports that diesel engine could be discontinued once BS VI compliance norms come into effect in April 2020.
Tata Motors will also be upgrading the infotainment system on the Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP with Apple CarPlay. Currently, the Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP retail at Rs. 6.39 lakhs and Rs. 7.5 lakhs respectively. These performance oriented models get their power via the same 1.2 liter 3 cylinder engine, but it is now turbocharged and tuned by Jayem Automotives; to deliver 114 PS power at 5,000 rpm and 150 Nm torque at 2,000-4,000 rpm.
Additionally, Tata has started working on facelifts of Tiago and Tigor. Both have been spied on test. These will come with cosmetic as well as engine upgrade. 2020 Tata Tiago and Tigor will come with IMPACT 2.0 styling, and BS6 compliant engine options.
