Tata Tigor electric drive range increased by 71 kms – Rs 9.44 L

2019 Tata Tigor Electric sedan

Tata Tigor EV was first made available for use by government bodies. Following which, the vehicle was offered to fleet consumers. Now, Tata Motors has introduced the Tigor EV electric sedan with an extended range and this is being offered to mass market buyers too.

This puts drive range at 213 km, certified by ARAI. A 21.5 kWh battery pack makes a longer range possible. The battery cooling system is designed for optimum and stable performance even in extreme ambient temperature conditions. 2 charging ports enable fast charging, and slow AC charging.

Tata Tigor EV with extended range is available in 3 variants – XE+, XM+ and XT+, and can be purchased for commercial or personal use. New Tigor EV will be available in 30 cities. Starting price is pegged at Rs. 9.44 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi (after deducting Govt. subsidies). This price is for commercial buyers. Private buyers do not get govt subsidies, and for them price will start from Rs 13.09 lakhs, ex-Delhi.

Regular Tigor EV without extended range on the other hand has a drive range of 142 kms, ARAI certified. It comes with a smaller 16.2 kWh battery pack. Price of Tigor EV with lesser drive range starts from Rs 9.17 lakhs, ex-sh. It is offered in two trims of XM and XT. Base XE trim is not on offer with this variant.

In its electric avatar, it qualifies for FAME II incentive for eligible commercial customers. The latest development ensures a vehicle with enhanced driving range, low cost of ownership, connectivity, comfort of a sedan, and zero emission.

New Tigor EV features two driving modes – Drive, and Sport. Exterior features include signature EV decals, premium front grille, stylish alloys, shark-fin antenna, and LED high mounted stop lamp. Tigor EV with extended range is available in Pearlescent white, Egyptian blue, and Roman silver.

Its black and grey interior, superior seat fabric, height adjustable seat, Harman speaker experience, and single speed transmission are standout features on the inside.

Tigor EV with extended range is available with dual airbags (XE+ variant with Driver Airbag only), and an anti-lock braking system as standard safety features. Inbuilt warranty is pegged at 3 years or 1.25 lakh kms, whichever is earlier.

Ashesh Dhar, Head – Sales, Marketing and Customer Service, Electric Vehicle Business, Tata Motors Ltd. said, “Tigor EV Extended Range model aptly addresses the requirements of longer range applications and also provides higher revenue earning potential for our commercial customers. This new version builds on the success of the award winning Tigor EV, which is already deployed with several fleets and Government customers. This launch reinforces our commitment towards sustainable mobility solutions in India.”
