Tata Motors along with Coimbatore based Jayem Automobiles have officially launched the Tata Tigor JTP in India today. The sedan was on show at 2018 Auto Expo earlier this year where it was noted for its enhanced styling adding to a sportier stance. It is priced from Rs 7.49 lakhs, ex-showroom. Unfortunately, only 11 cities in India will be selling the new JTP Tigor via 30 dealerships.
Just like the Tata Tiago JTP, the Tata Tigor JTP too receives exterior styling that is different from its regular model. These updates include a new hood vent, gloss black detailing on front grill and bumpers along with twin pipe exhausts, dual projector headlamps and diamond cut alloy wheels.
The Tigor JTP also receives new side skirts, a contrasting black roof, new fenders and blackened ORVMs. The JTP badging is seen on the grille, fender vents and at the rear. Overall, the car looks a lot more sportier thanks to new updates.
Interiors also get changes with a sporty black and red color scheme which is seen on seating, door liners and on its leather wrapped steering wheel and gear shifter. There are aluminum finished pedals and in terms of infotainment, there is a Harman 5” system with Bluetooth and voice command recognition.
In keeping with new safety norms, the Tata Tigor JTP will get twin airbags in the front, ABS with cornering stability control and EBD as standard. Suspension has also been tuned to offer better drive control while lower ride height and wider tyres result in better road grip.
Tata Tigor JTP is powered by a 1.2 liter, turbocharged, Revotron petrol engine offering 112 bhp power at 5,000 rpm and 150 Nm torque at 2,000-4,000 rpm mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. Tata Motors has claimed an average of 20.3 kmpl fuel efficiency on the top JTP variant.
Tata Tigor JTP enters the compact sedan segment where it will compete with the likes of Maruti Dzire, Honda Amaze and Ford Aspire. It is the cheapest of all cars in the segment, but is also the most powerful and fastest of them all.
