Tata H7X Harrier SUV spied testing with Nexon and Safari Storme

Tata H7X will be making its public debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, starting on 5th March. It will be seen at the Tata Motors stall along with the Altroz, Altroz EV and Hornbill mini SUV. It is to be noted here that apart from Altroz, all cars are concepts, including the H7X.

Tata H7X is codename of a new SUV, which is based on Harrier 5 seater. It is expected to be launched by end of this year, or early next year. It will be a 7 seater SUV, which will be longer than the Harrier by 62 mm. Once launched, it will be the most expensive Tata car on offer, and sit above the Harrier and Hexa in the company line-up.

Even though the H7X will debut as a concept in a few days, Tata continues to test the H7X in India. Recently, automotive enthusiast haldar_siliguri and Team BHP member managed to click the test mule of H7X at company plant in Pimpri near Pune. The H7X test mule in question was spotted on the Tata Motors plant test track. It was seen with Nexon, Safari Storme and Xenon pick-up.

Tata H7X, as it is called as on date, is based on the OMEGA ARC (Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced Architecture) platform, which also underpins the Harrier. Latest spy shot confirms that its front fascia will be similar to that seen on the Harrier. It will also feature larger 18” alloy wheels. Other design elements include footboards and a chrome strip across its window line while at the rear there are horizontal LED tail lamps. The H7X also gets LED DRLs, tri arrow shaped fog lamps and a sloping roof along with a shark fin antenna.

Apart from the spy shots, Tata Motors has also been revealing details about the H7X via official teasers. Expect the cabin to be spacious, offering ample room even for third row passengers. It will have smaller boot space as compared to Harrier’s 425 liters. The interiors boast of electrically adjustable front seats, 8.8 inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink along with a 7.1 inch colour MID on its instrument cluster. Safety features could include 6 airbags, advanced electronic safety program, hill hold assist, rear parking camera with sensors, brake assist, airbags and traction control ABS and EBD.

Tata H7X Harrier SUV will get its power via the same 2.0 liter Kryotec diesel engine which powers the Harrier 5 seater. This engine on the Harrier offers 140 bhp power and 350 Nm torque but power will be enhanced to 170 bhp on the 7 seater, while torque figure remains the same. The engine gets mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox alongside a 6 speed torque converter automatic as well. Expect H7X prices to be about Rs 2-3 lakhs more than Harrier SUV.
