Revotron engine in Tata Zest has first in class drive mode selection feature that gives option to switch between City, Sports and ECO preset ECU programs. Switching can be done at any point of time while driving and ECU will regulate air-fuel flow and responsiveness of engine to offer corresponding performance / economy. Revotron engine has displacement of 1.2 litres in 4 cylinders and is equipped with Single Over Head Camshaft (SOHC). The turbocharged petrol motor produces maximum power of 90 PS @ 5,000 rpm and peak torque of 140 Nm @ 1,750 – 3,500 rpm, and is connected to 5 speed manual transmission. Tata Motors claims mileage of 17.6 kmpl in Indian driving cycle.
Tata Zest sub-4 metre compact sedan boasts features like projector headlamps, LED light guide rings on headlamps, chrome garnish on front fog lamps / LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL), turn indicators on ORVMs, Dual-tone Java Black & Latte interior pattern, rugby shoulder seats, aluminium finish gear shift lever, full fabric seat upholstery, key ring illumination, door co-ordinated cabin lights, fabric inserts on doors, day & night IRVM (Inside Rear View Mirror) and co-driver seat under storage drawer and boot lamp.
However highlight lies in music system of Tata Zest – ConnectNext infotainment system by Harman with touchscreen, SD card reader, controls of FATC (Fully Automatic Temperature Control), reverse park guide display, picture/image viewer via USB and SD card, voice command, smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth enabling call reject with SMS feature, conference call, and incoming SMS notifications & read-out. But, Tata Motors would not launch Zest in Indonesia, they will introduce Bolt hatchback in Indonesia with similar features, in February 2015.
