The Tata Zica (Zippy Car) small car which was known by its codename Kite is all set to be unveiled next week. The fully revealing spyshots of the Maruti Celerio-rival have emerged online and it has to be said that the car has a fresh and energetic design.
Much to our delight, the Zica doesn’t look like yet another cosmetically enhanced Indica eV2. Instead, it adopts a whole new styling approach while retaining the brand identity. The smiley grille with honeycomb meshing takes the centre stage of the front fascia design but large headlamps, dual layered secondary airdam and chrome accented foglight enclosures ensure that the new Tata hatchback looks nothing like any of its stablemates.
The silhouette has absolutely no hint of the Indica but it does look vaguely similar to that of the new Figo hatchback. A pronounced waistline, blacked out B-pillar, ORVMs with integrated blinkers and a rather mundane alloy wheel design make up the profile. A generous windshield, neat leaf-shaped wraparound taillights and a bumper with massive black license plate enclosure define the rear fascia.
The interior gets mild dual-tone beige-black color theme with black seats and upper part of the dashboard. Seats seem comfortable, with enough room for legs and head. The variant spied belongs to the top-of-the-line trim and hence sports chorme interior door handles. We expect the Zica to offer best-in-class equipment package complete with a touchscreen infotainment system.
A 1.2-litre petrol and new 1.05-litre diesel engines are expected to propel the Tata Zica. We will have more details about the car in the first week of December, including the first impressions from the media drive.
